The Central Bank of Russia will consider the idea of creating a unified mobile application for paying for purchases. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Olga Skorobogatova.
According to the specialist, such an initiative was announced within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), it needs to be worked out together with banks.
“We consider it possible to consider the idea of one of the banks to create a kind of unified mobile application for making payments,” she said.
At the end of February, it became known that Russian banks that fell under Western sanctions would be left without ApplePay and GooglePay. The message of the Central Bank states that customers of the VTB Group, Sovcombank, Novikombank, Promsvyazbank and Otkritie will not be able to pay with the cards of these banks abroad and use them to pay for services in online stores and service aggregators registered in countries that support sanctions. The regulator added that the funds of customers of all banks on accounts linked to cards are saved and available at any time.
