Durov denied the transfer of Google data to Telegram users
Entrepreneur and developer Pavel Durov denied the transfer of data from users of the Telegram messenger to Google. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
“Telegram does not share with Google personal data of users such as names, telephone numbers, IP addresses. In addition, Telegram never sends any data to third parties automatically, without an explicit request from users, “said Durov.
He explained that premium subscription users can request a translation of a single voice message into text, for which they rent Google equipment. This helps to get the best possible transcription quality, but does not affect the safety of the data. “Google can do nothing with this depersonalized audio data except generate text versions based on it and return it,” Durov added.
Earlier, the author of the Telegram channel “Backdor” after studying the conditions of use of the premium version of the messenger came to the conclusion that the security of the data of users of the paid subscription of the messenger is under threat. It follows from the document that subscribers’ voice messages are transmitted to Google for decryption.
