Europe announced its readiness for a complete halt in gas supplies from Russia
Austria is ready for all scenarios in the energy sector, including a complete halt in gas supplies from Russia. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Energy of Austria, Leonore Gewessler, on the social network Twitter.
Gewessler added that the reduction in Russian fuel supplies to Europe would lead to a significant increase in prices and cause discontent throughout the region. “Gas supplies are a tool for Russia in the current confrontation,” she said.
In mid-June, fuel supplies to some European countries were significantly reduced. The press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, explained the decrease in the volume of gas supplied by Gazprom to European countries with technical difficulties. “We only know that there is a problem with turbines, a problem with overhaul, some turbines are not returning, they blocked it somewhere, that is, again, these are the consequences of sanctions, there is nothing intentional. These are generally problems that are not related to us, ”Peskov said.
Earlier, Gazprom reported problems with pumping gas to Europe related to the Nord Stream gas pipeline. The company was unable to timely receive gas compressor units from Siemens from repair, which is why deliveries to customers were provided in a limited volume, significantly less than planned. Later, Gazprom decided to stop the operation of another Siemens gas turbine at the Portovaya station. The company explained this by the end of the overhaul period.
