Freiburg will allocate 1 million euros for the construction of a dormitory for patients in Lviv
The city hall of the German city of Freiburg will allocate 1 million euros for the construction of a social hostel for patients of the National Rehabilitation Center “Unbreakable”, which is planned to be built in Lviv. This was announced on Friday, June 17, by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy.
The building will be erected next to the future medical institution. The rehabilitation center itself will operate on the basis of the First Territorial Medical Association of Lviv.
“This will allow patients who come to rehabilitation to live near the hospital in comfortable conditions and not be isolated. This project is a change in the rehabilitation system in Ukraine: treatment of patients, prosthetics, physical and psychological rehabilitation, housing for them, sports and work, “said Andriy Sadovy following a meeting with Freiburg Mayor Martin Horn.
The National Rehabilitation Center will include postoperative, trauma, post-burn, physical, psychological, psychosocial rehabilitation, as well as prostheses and 3D bone implants. It will provide assistance primarily to veterans and civilians affected by the war.
At the first stage, the center will be equipped with six new operating rooms and 180 beds for patients in the current premises of the ambulance hospital. The next step will be the construction of a new rehabilitation center with an area of 25 thousand m2 with modern equipment. Every year the center will treat more than 50 thousand patients and perform more than 10 thousand operations.
A total of 77 million euros is needed to build the center. The Donors’ Forum recently raised € 2.1 million.
